Armin Van Buuren Releases 4th Album Mirage TODAY

Armin van Buuren’s highly anticipated fourth artist album Mirage dropped today, but pre-orders have already brought the album into the US iTunes Top 10 Dance Albums chart. This is the album that dance fans have been waiting for: It’s his most diverse yet, rich with live-recorded instrumentals and featuring collaborations with Ferry Corsten, BT, and Josh Gabriel, along with the talents of Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Nadia Ali, Guy Chambers, Christian Burns and Adam Young of Owl City.

Mirage is filled with musical fusions and surprising interpretations, from the orchestral masterpiece of title track “Mirage”, the deep trance track “I Don’t Own You” and housey “Feels So Good” to the eerie “Take A Moment” and feel-good “Drowning.” These 16 tracks highlight how Armin has matured as an artist. “I wanted to expand myself musically,” Armin says. “My main sound will always be trance, but I’ve been having a lot more fun by doing things differently. For example, I worked with Guy Chambers, the man behind Robbie Williams, and he taught me a lot about songwriting just sitting down with a cup of tea, a guitar and a piece of paper. That really inspired me.”

Armin recently returned to headline the sold-out second night of Electric Zoo, New York’s electronic music festival, playing tracks from Mirage to over 25,000 enthusiastically receptive fans. Jon Pareles from the New York Times, said of his performance: “Mr. van Buuren has become one of the world’s most popular D.J.’s with a particularly triumphal version of trance, infused with the bombast of European classical music: marchlike beats, swelling (synthetic) orchestral chords, arpeggiated melodies and, at times, quasi-operatic chorales.”

This month, Armin launched his Sirius XM Radio takeover with ‘A State of Sundays.’ A State of Sundays is a brand new concept: a weekly 24 hour radio day featuring Armin’s critically acclaimed and award-winning ‘A State of Trance’ radio show, along with an exclusive hour with his personal collection, ranging from trance to progressive, house and down-tempo electronic music. The show will also include a ‘Favorite Future DJ’ segment and special DJ sets by the likes of Markus Schulz, Dash Berlin, John O’Callaghan, Andy Moor, Ashley Wallbridge and W&W.

Armin van Buuren Mirage out September 14th on Ultra Records.

DJ Mehdi Dies After Tragic Accident

At the age of 34, DJ Mehdi, electronic music and hip-hop producer, died in an unfortunate accident at his house last night. According to the French media, he was standing on the mezzanine of his Parisian home when it suddenly collapsed. Accompanied by three other people, they would still be hospitalized at the moment.
From Tunisian decent, Mehdi Faveris-Essadi has always been a talented music freak. He started to spin on his father’s turntables at the age of 12 years old and never stopped since.

Mehdi started out as a producer for hip-hop artists in the 90s, notably for the famous group 113, and was known as the DJ for Different Teep and Ideal J.
Later on, he became more and more interested in electronic music. After Pedro Winters signed him with Ed Banger Records, he released the “Lucky Boy” album in 2006 and joined the French electro elite working with Justice, Daft Punk, Uffie, and SebastiAn.

DJ Mehdi grew in this family and showed his talent through many artistic collaborations such as the famous duet Carte blanche including Henry Riton and himself. He also co-founded the Club 75 regrouping Justice, Cassius, and Daft Punk on international tours.
At 4 a.m. last night, DJ CutKiller posted the first tweet announcing Mehdi’s tragic death, “Dj Mehdi !!! there are no words for expressing the sadness I feel… a friend is gone…rest in peace bro”. The electronic scene is in shock! All of his collaborators and friends have been continuously posting messages on Twitter and Facebook honoring his memory. Very close to Chromeo after they came up with the song “I am Somebody”, he wrote “We lost our brother. No words”. Him and his brother A-track are now flying to Paris.

Uffie also tweeted “I’m so sad I couldn’t be at the hospital with the rest of the crew to see your face one last time. You knew how to light up our heart as did a dancefloor. Life won’t be the same without you in it…we will miss you more than words can say.. I just cant believe this…love you”.

A very popular Parisian night club known for hosting the greatest of the electronic artists, the Social Club, announced that they will keep the place closed for the night as “an evening of silence in honor of the artist”.
We are excepting an announcement from Ed Banger Records. However, his partner Henry Riton posted “just want everyone to know that we were all laughing our asses off 1/2 second before the accident and simon alegia and louise are all well” two hours ago.
Mehdi was one of the important figure who contributed to the rise of the urban scene. He was one of the only producers who knew how to perfectly mix hip-hop beats and electronic music soundbites to make it the funkiest tune you could dance on.   (Referenced from HousePlanet.DJ)

We here at SiNERGY also send our prayers and condolences to the family as well during this time of need.
